Anglepoise
The first Anglepoise lamp was designed in 1933 by the British George Carwadine. The expert for shock absorber systems was looking for a flexible and durable work light to illuminate the gloomy factory buildings of the time better.
The joints and springs allow to bring the Anglepoise light always in the right position. Carwadine produced the first lights himself in his small workshop in Bath, England. The principle was quickly copied by other companies and the light become successful around the world.
The original Anglepoise light over the years earned its reputation as a design icon, not least because the light was shown in advertising and famous movies. When in 1992 fifty British industrial designer are asked about the most significant light of all time, the Anglepoise landed in first place. The lights offered in our store are original Anglepoise lamps in the tradition of George Carwadine. They will be adjusted only in their function, for example, by using the latest LED technology.
